Job Description: | The successful candidate will provide assessment and treatment of swallowing and communication disorders for adult inpatients with a variety of medical diagnoses. Collaboration with other health care professionals providing patient and family centered care in a team setting is an integral part of this position. The SLP may be required to provide coverage on more than one medical unit. Duties & Responsibilities assessing and treating swallowing and communication difficulties arising from a range of causes, e.g. congenital problems (such as cleft palate) or acquired disorders after a stroke or injury; devising, implementing and revising relevant treatment programmes; advising carers on implementing treatment programmes and training other professionals in therapy delivery; assessing communication environments; monitoring and evaluating clients' progress; working with clients on a one-to-one basis, and in groups, to deliver therapy; Benefits: Dental care Extended health care Life insurance |
Job Requirements: | Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution. Licensed with the College of Audiologists & Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO). Previous experience with assessment and management of swallowing disorders, including video- fluoroscopic assessment for dysphagia. Previous experience with assessment and treatment of patients with neurological deficits. Strong case management skills and demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced team environment. Superior interpersonal communication skills, including verbal and written communication. Valid driver’s licence, access to a personal vehicle |
