Position Title: Packaging Operator
Location: Hamilton
Compensation: $18.00 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week
Job Description: We are a dry mustard milling facility that can provide stable hours of work in a unionized environment.  Our facility has a strong Health and Food Safety focused culture and our working environment is temperature and humidity controlled.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE YET ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Comply with Safety regulations as stated within the Health & Safety Act
Set-up and tear down of equipment in a safe and timely manner.
Ensuring all equipment is set up and cleaned as per SOP’s, GMPs’s & CFIA regulations
Ensure packaging equipment are properly cleaned, washed and stored in appropriate location
Will be required to ensure all products are packed for all scheduled production lines in a timely and efficient manner.
Focus on product quality and process readiness is a must
Perform quality checks and equipment monitoring hourly
Product temp monitoring checks
Declaration label checks & confirmation
Date code validation for package, box and/or product label
Product package weight control
Palletization pattern correct for finished goods
Perform daily housekeeping duties
Your work area is your responsibility to maintain. It must be a neat and orderly manner.
Must be able to trouble shoot and identify mechanical problems
Label placement
HMI fault locations,
Understanding of safety sensor/interlocks functions
Report any shortages, downtime and/or production issues to supervision in a timely manner.
Perform basic machine maintenance
Lubrication, fastening, assembly/disassembly packaging equipment
Maintains an extremely high standard of Health and Safety, strictly adheres to Health & Safety SOPs
Will be required to perform full cleaning of packaging equipment and area as per the Company’s SSOP.
Will be required to assume other duties deemed necessary by the Company
FOOD SAFETY AND QUALITY CONTROL RESPONSIBILITIES.
Maintains a high standard of Quality and Food Safety, strictly follows Company Policies, Good Manufacturing Practices, and Standard Operating Procedures
Must comply with all GMP (General Manufacturing Practices) and understand the importance of Food Safety as the key priority in our business.
Actively maintains good housekeeping of the work areas.
Actively observes and maintains the expected product quality.
Measures and monitors checks pertaining to the Company’s Pre-requisite Program and HACCP System, reliably and accurately.
Monitors and fills in all required documentation with clear hand writing
Will be required to assist in daily housekeeping duties
Adhere to SOPs pertaining to Quality & Food Safety
Responsible for completing all production and Q.A. paperwork and reporting pertaining to the job
Monitoring food safety and quality to ensure they meet product specifications during production and communicating any concerns to the Supervisor and QA team

This position may be steady nights or a days/afternoon rotation based on business needs Will be required to work weekends based on production requirements

Job Requirements: Punctuality and excellent attendance is required
M.P’s and HACCP , CCP training is required
Must be very flexible, be a team player, and have the ability to work with minimum supervision
Competent in LOTO and all elements of plant safety programs
Continual improvement mindset focusing on waste reduction
Must have excellent work ethics and attendance record
Knowledge of WHMIS is required
Will be required to perform physically demanding work (ie. Lifting up to 25kg) and be able to climb stairs
Ability to stand on your feet for long periods of time
Must have a strong mechanical aptitude
Excellent interpersonal skills
Must have good command in all aspects of the English language
Must contribute to a safe working environment
Adhere to all of the company’s rules, policies and procedures.
Must have strong communication skills
Tow motor experience required
Confined space experience (preferred)
Working at heights experience (preferred)
Criminal background check required
