Position Title: Claims Assistant-Finance and Insurance
Location: Markham
Compensation: 35,000 / year
Hours: 40 hours / week (9 am to 5pm schedule)
Job Description: Provide and maintain a high standard of customer service to client organizations, Insured’s, their families and guardians on how to proceed with claims or provide referrals when necessary
Answer multi-line phone and respond to emails; regarding policy coverage or claims and provide information as requested
Maintain accurate data entry; organize and work with detailed records to access, search and retrieve data
Maintain proper files for claims by collecting and organizing all relevant documents and set up new claims using the company software system
Prepare and review insurance-claim forms and related documents for completeness
Transmit claims for payment or further investigation
Contact insured or other involved persons to obtain missing information
Contribute to and maintain our electronic document management activities (filing & storing of documents, inventory and/or research activities)
Liaise with other departments to solve queries as necessary
Prepare correspondence (faxes, letters, email, etc.) to insureds, providers or clinics
Keep up to date with insurance product knowledge as well as appraisal and investigation techniques and services
Prepare reports as required

Job Requirements: Minimum of 1-year experience in Administration coupled with completion of Secondary School Diploma, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred in an Insurance, Medical or Clinical setting. 
Excellent customer service attitude with an ability to demonstrate this while taking calls
Solid teaming skills to work collaboratively in a positive, energetic and outgoing manner
Comfortable adapting to new situations with the ability to perform well, negotiate and problem solve in dynamic situations
A strong attention to detail with the ability to multi-task
Ability to maintain high-level of confidentiality of clients’ information
Tech-savvy with the ability to learn new computer systems and work with industry related software programs
Experience using Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook), Adobe Reader, Internet Search Engines (Google Chrome, Mozilla, IE)
Excellent verbal & telephony skills with the ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor
Excellent written communication skills with the ability to compose professional correspondence
Case Management, Medical, Nursing and/or Pharmaceutical knowledge an asset
Ability to communicate in a second language is an asset
