Position Title: Match Assistant Sous Chef-Arts, Entertainment and Recreation
Location: Hanover
Compensation: TBD
Hours: 40 hours per week
Job Description: Manage all assigned kitchen area activities through kitchen staff and ensure they have sufficient resources available
Ensure that all food is prepared in accordance with predetermined quality standards
Consistently ensure the highest calibre of food presentation and take advantage of opportunities to improve 
Ensure cleanliness and hygiene is maintained and that food products are rotated to ensure high standards of freshness 
Ensure refrigerators and storerooms are organized and maintained and that all food products are correctly stored 
Liaise with the Sous Chef to ensure that a high level of effective communication is maintained and participate in culinary initiatives
Participate and assist with banquet and event preparation
Oversee performance, safety, and recruitment and development needs of the department. Manage the performance of direct reports including: training, appraising performance, providing positive and corrective feedback, coaching, and administering discipline. Ensure appropriate appraisals and accountabilities are undertaken
Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of all emergency procedures
Job Requirements: 2 years’ experience in restaurant supervision or an equivalent combination of education, and experience
Diploma or degree in culinary arts or restaurant management preferred
Red Seal or equivalent certification an asset
Food Handlers Course
Smart Serve Certificate
General understanding of casino and convention operations
The ability to obtain registration as a Category 1 Gaming Assistant with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario
Proven leadership skills - able to direct, motivate, and supervise staff
Working knowledge with spreadsheets, word processing software, email, point of sale and inventory control applications
Excellent problem-solving skills
Self-motivated and able to multi-task
Excellent communicator – both written and verbal
Proven to be detail oriented, reliable, punctual, efficient, and diligent in duties and responsibilities
