Position Title: Senior Bookkeeper-Finance and Insurance
Location: Markham
Compensation: $45,000 to $60,000 per year DOE
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Job Description: Support Accounting Manager, who is responsible for the month end close, by ensuring timely and accurate completion of the monthly close processes for all assigned corporate entities, including: 

Preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and other supporting assignments for credit cards, bank accounts, petty cash transactions 
Review for accuracy and process general office expense invoices 
Ensure accurate and appropriate Accounts Payable entry and payment processing using QuickBooks 
Provide support in weekly payment plans and cheque runs 
Prepare financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends for Insurance underwriter, Accountant and Executive Team as required 
Comply with federal, provincial and local legal requirements in Canada and Internationally as required 
Act as back up for Accounts Receivable, including posting entries and reconciliation 
Act as back up for Claim Reimbursement process by various payment methods including direct deposit and wire transfer 
Provide backup for processing cheque run for Claim Reimbursement 
Ensure manual filing is completed on a weekly basis 
Travel to bank for deposits, petty cash, travel cash as needed 
Ad hoc administrative duties 
Ensure all accounting processes are documented and identify process improvement opportunities 
2 Positions Available 
Job Requirements: Education & Experience 
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an Accounting role, coupled with completion of College Diploma or Accounting/Business Degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred in an Accounting function. 

Qualifications and Skills 
Independent, proactive and well organized with strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to multitask with accuracy and efficiency 
International accounting and multi-currency knowledge are required 
Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) 
Able to meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment 
Excellent customer service attitude with solid teaming skills to work collaboratively in a positive, energetic and outgoing manner 
Ability to maintain high-level of confidentiality of business information 
Experience using QuickBooks, Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook), Adobe Reader, Internet Search Engines (Google Chrome, Mozilla, IE) 
Tech-savvy with the ability to learn new computer systems and work with industry related software programs 
Ability to communicate in a second language is an asset
